Specific Requirements for Certain Events
Novice Longsword
This event is specifically designed to introduce people who have never competed in a tournament before to the tournament scene in a setting where they may compete against practitioners of a similar level.
Participants must have never competed in a tournament against other clubs before.
Participants are not allowed to compete in other events.
Participant must still meet all gear and weapon requirements.
Women and Under Represented Genders Longsword
This event is open to participants who self-identify as Cis women, trans women, Trans men or non-binary.
Participant must still meet all gear and weapon requirements.
Over 45 Open Steel Longsword
Participants must be at least 45 years old. If participant turns 45 the year of the event they will qualify.
Participant must still meet all gear and weapon requirements.
Rapier/Rapier with Companion
Rapier is defined as a single-handed sword with a blade over 36 inches in length from tip to quillons.
Weapons may still have off hand accompaniment in accordance with the weapon rules.
Successful thrusts with the Rapier will be awarded points in accordance with our weighted points rules, successful cuts with the Rapier will be awarded 1 point regardless of target struck.
If there is an imbalance between weapons, Single Rapier vs Rapier and Companion, the fencer with the single rapier will start with a 3 point advantage
The winner of Mixed Steel without Rapier and Rapier/Rapier with Companion will go on to a “grand champion” bout with each competitor fencing with their weapon of choice allowed by the events.
Participant must still meet all gear and weapon requirements.
Mixed Steel Without Rapier
Rapiers are not allowed. Single handed weapons as primary weapon only.
Weapons may still have off hand accompaniment in accordance with the weapon rules.
If there is an imbalance between weapons, single sword vs sword and companion, the fencer with the single sword will start with a 3 point advantage
A fencer can fence with dual companion weapons ( eg two daggers), fencers with single sword will not get the point advantage against them.
The winner of Mixed Steel without Rapier and Rapier/Rapier with Companion events will go on to a “grand champion” bout with each competitor fencing with their weapon of choice allowed by the events.
